Senior Director, Transactions
Shape pivotal deals and drive our pharmaceutical growth across Europe strategically.
Lead high-stakes deal negotiations and shape the partnerships that fuel our pharmaceutical growth across Europe. Join us at a pivotal moment where your expertise in transactions will directly influence how we expand, collaborate and create value.
Drive meaningful change
Abacus Medicine Pharmaceuticals (AMP) is in an exciting build‑up phase, strengthening our pharmaceutical organization and expanding our footprint across Europe. As Senior Director, Transactions, you will play a central role in shaping this growth by leading the execution of high-impact BD&L deals, translating validated opportunities into robust deal structures, valuations, negotiations, and finalized agreements. You will translate opportunity assessments into executable deal frameworks and secure partnerships that strengthen Abacus Medicines Group’s long‑term position in the market. Operating where commercial insight, financial rigor and strategic intent meet, you will influence decision‑making at leadership level and help define how we transact, collaborate and create value in a rapidly evolving pharmaceutical landscape.
Your main responsibilities include:
Lead transactional elements of BD&L deals from diligence entry through signature and structured handover to Alliance Management.
Shape deal structures and economics aligned with corporate objectives and financial criteria.
Develop valuation models and scenario analyses for licensing, selective acquisitions, and other structured partnering models.
Negotiate term sheets and contracts with external partners, balancing risk and reward.
Act as the primary transactional lead in partner discussions, working closely with the VP BD&L and Search & Evaluation to ensure aligned external engagement.
Prepare and present clear transaction recommendations, risk assessments, and deal rationales to BD&L and Group governance forums to support informed decision-making.
Ensure disciplined alignment of transactions with Abacus Medicines Group’s strategic and financial priorities.
Drive best practices for valuation, risk mitigation and negotiation across the organisation.
Your Profile
You combine strategic vision with commercial and financial acumen, thriving in complex negotiations and fast-moving environments. You simplify complexity, influence without hierarchy and deliver results with professionalism and integrity. Complementing these strengths, you bring:
A Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Business, Finance or related field (PhD or MBA preferred).
15+ years of experience in pharma or biotech transactions, including hands-on execution of licensing, partnering, and/or selective M&A within a corporate BD&L or advisory setting.
Strong understanding of EU-centric regulatory, legal, and commercial considerations impacting deal structuring and valuation.
Proven track record in leading deal negotiations, financial modelling and transaction execution.
Strong understanding of asset valuation, risk assessment and partnering models across the product lifecycle.
Excellent negotiation and communication skills, comfortable managing senior-level external discussions.
Proficiency in Excel-based valuation modelling and deal economics.
High integrity and professionalism in partner-facing interactions.
Fluent in English, written and spoken.
Be part of an international community of people who care
You will join the BD&L leadership team, working at the intersection of strategy and execution. Collaborating closely with Search & Evaluation, BD Strategy & Operations, Alliance Management and key functions across Finance, Legal, Regulatory, Medical and Commercial, you’ll help shape how we partner and grow. You’ll also engage with biotech and pharma innovators, advisors and investment networks, becoming part of a forward-thinking organisation where your expertise drives meaningful impact across Europe.
While the role has no direct reports initially, it is a highly hands‑on leadership position. You will steer cross‑functional deal teams through valuation, structuring and negotiation, ensure disciplined execution in line with AMP’s BD&L governance and risk standards, and help elevate Abacus Medicine Group’s transactional excellence across the BD&L organisation.
