Abacus Medicine Pharmaceuticals is in an exciting build-up phase, strengthening our pharmaceutical organization and expanding our footprint across Europe. As Director, Search & Evaluation, you play a central role in shaping this growth, owning the front end of the BD&L funnel, including defining search priorities, driving disciplined triage, and ensuring that only the most strategically and financially compelling opportunities progress to diligence and governance decision. You will bridge scientific insight with commercial strategy, influence decisions at leadership level, and help define how we partner and grow in a rapidly evolving market.

Your main responsibilities include:

You combine scientific literacy, commercial understanding and strong stakeholder skills, thriving in fastmoving, cross-functional settings and navigating EU development, regulatory and commercial landscapes with ease. Building on this foundation, you will bring:

• A Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Medicine or Business (PhD or MBA preferred).

• 10+ years of experience within pharma or biotech, with significant hands-on responsibility for Search & Evaluation, asset assessment, or commercial strategy.

• Demonstrated track record in assessing the scientific and commercial potential of in‑licensing or acquisition opportunities.

• Strong analytical capabilities, able to synthesize complex scientific, market and commercial data into clear recommendations.

• Excellent communication and presentation skills, including experience engaging senior stakeholders.

• Proficiency with valuation and opportunity‑assessment tools (e.g., Excel, pipeline databases, partnering platforms).

• High integrity and discretion when handling confidential partner information.

• Natural relationship builder and effective cross‑functional influencer.

• Fluent in English, written and spoken.

You will join the BD&L leadership team, working at the intersection of scientific opportunity and strategic execution. Collaborating closely with Transactions, Alliance Management, Finance, Legal, Regulatory, Medical and Commercial, you’ll help shape how we identify and advance external partnerships.

You’ll expand Abacus Medicine Pharmaceuticals’ reach by shaping how we engage the external innovation ecosystem, including biotech and pharma innovators, academic groups, advisors and investors. Your work will help position us as a trusted partner in a rapidly evolving market, ensuring we pursue opportunities that truly strengthen our long-term strategic direction.

While the role has no direct reports initially, it is a highly hands-on leadership position, guiding cross-functional evaluation teams and helping shape future Search & Evaluation capabilities.
