As an experienced Business Intelligence Developer in our new Berlin office, you’ll play a central role in shaping Abacus Medicine’s BI solutions locally, while collaborating closely with colleagues in Copenhagen and across the Data, Analytics & AI (DnA) department. You’ll also collaborate with BI developers, data engineers, analysts, and data scientists, as well as business stakeholders across Abacus Medicine. Are you ready to embark on this journey with us?
As a Senior BI Developer in Berlin, you’ll have a high degree of ownership in your daily work. At the same time, you’ll be part of a strong and supportive team that values collaboration, continuous learning, and knowledge sharing. You’ll be working on a cutting-edge data platform, building scalable solutions that power critical business decisions. In addition, you will act as a mentor and sparring partner for colleagues, serving as a knowledge hub and taking responsibility for our BI data architecture.
Your main responsibilities include:
- Set technical direction - Define and enforce BI standards for modelling, naming conventions, version control, documentation, and testing across Databricks and Power BI.
- Architect and optimize – Drive the development of robust, scalable data models and pipelines with focus on performance, reusability, and governance.
- Knowledge hub & mentor - Act as technical sparring partner for the BI team, drive code reviews, and mentor colleagues in BI engineering and BI best practices.
- Own complex solutions - Take responsibility for high-impact BI products, from architecture to deployment, ensuring reliability and scalability.
- Automate and improve - Build reusable components and optimize workflows to reduce manual work and increase quality.
- Explore and evaluate - Stay ahead on BI tools, cloud technologies, modern data solutions and translate innovations into actionable improvements for the team.

You are proactive, self-driven, and comfortable taking initiative. You thrive on problem-solving and can manage BI tasks independently, while also enjoying collaboration across teams and locations. You’re able to see the big picture while keeping an eye on the details, ensuring that your work contributes to long-term goals as well as immediate needs.
Furthermore, we imagine that you bring the following:
- Master's degree in information systems, Computer Science, Business Analytics, or similar.
- 5+ years of BI development and data architecture, preferably in the cloud.
- Strong in Power BI (data modelling, DAX, governance) or similar tools.
- Advanced SQL and Python skills for building, optimizing, and maintaining complex queries and automations.
- Dimensional modeling (Kimball/star schema) and lakehouse patterns.
- Hands-on with Databricks or similar cloud data platforms, Azure Data Factory or other orchestration tools, and CI/CD processes.
- Skilled in data validation, testing, documentation, and governance.
- Experience as technical lead (mentoring, code reviews, standardization).
- Familiar with modern software principles (version control, reusable components, automation).
