Vice President, Business Development & Licenses

Are you ready to lead strategic partnerships and drive commercial growth in the pharmaceutical industry? We are looking for a dynamic Vice President to head our Business Development & Licensing activities within Abacus Medicine Pharma Services (AMPS).

The position

As Vice President, Business Development & Licenses, you will be responsible for defining and driving the commercial growth strategy of our licensing business - a key priority for the future of AMPS. You’ll build and lead strategic partnerships, secure in-licensing agreements, and expand our portfolio across Europe.

You will also play a central role in maintaining and developing long-term client relationships and ensuring successful cross-functional collaboration across the business. This is a highly visible role with significant impact - ideal for a commercially minded leader with a strong strategic grasp and hands-on execution capabilities.

The role is preferably based at our Headquarters in Copenhagen, Denmark, but can also be anchored in any of our Abacus Medicine office locations across Europe.

What you’ll own:

• Shaping and executing the licensing and business development strategy
• Identifying, evaluating, and pursuing high-potential market opportunities
• Leading negotiations for licensing, co-commercialization, and distribution agreements
• Building scalable structures, governance, and processes for the licensing area
• Owning key client relationships and driving long-term engagement
• Collaborating closely with Regulatory, Market Access, Supply Chain, Legal, and Commercial Operations to align execution
• Driving commercial performance and contributing directly to AMPS’ strategic growth
• Representing AMPS at key conferences, meetings, and industry forums
• Leading and growing a high-performing, cross-cultural Business Development & Licensing team

Who you are

You bring a deep understanding of the pharmaceutical industry and a proven ability to drive commercial success through partnerships and licensing deals. You have the strategic mindset to shape the bigger picture - and the hands-on approach to execute it.

Your background likely includes:

• A master’s degree in business, Life Sciences, Pharmacy or a related field (MBA is a plus)
• Extensive proven experience in business development, licensing, market access, or commercial roles within the pharmaceutical sector
• Demonstrated success in negotiating and closing complex licensing agreements
• A solid network in pharma and biotech, ideally across Europe
• Fluency in English (written and spoken); additional European languages are a plus
• Prior exposure to Rx products and the full pharmaceutical product life cycle
• Experience leading and developing cross-cultural teams is preferred
• Ability and willingness to travel 20–30% of the time
